Very cool, here is a program with how often words are used and where they appear in the list. This applet holds a grand total of 86800 words and ranks them according to what people use most often. At the top are the words you would expect, of course, like ‘the, of, and, to, a, in, that, it’ and so forth. It gets more interesting when you look further down. ‘Like’ is 67th, while ‘only’ ranks 68th. (probably because they are used together so often in some American states, I imagine). Go look, you’ll be entertained (for a few minutes, anyway)
